Mit Unterstützung von Unrock präsentieren wir am 19.09.2023 Sir Richard Bishop im 674FM Konzertraum. Es ist eins der beiden einzigen Deutschlandkonzerte. Das andere findet in Berlin statt.

Richard Bishop ist ein amerikanischer Musiker, Sänger und Komponist. Am bekanntesten ist er für seine Arbeit mit den Sun City Girls. 1981 gründete Bishop die Experiemental/Avantgarde-Band mit seinem Bruder Alan in Phoenix (Arizona). Sie veröffentlichten bis 1993 eine Unzahl an Tonträgern, die ihre Wurzeln im US-Independent-Undergound hatten, diese aber fortlaufend mit unterschiedlichsten Einflüssen aus Improv/Jazz und sogenannter Weltmusik erweiterten und zu einem ganz eigenen, außergewöhnlichen Sound formten.
Nach dem Tod des Schlagzeuger Charles Gocher löste sich die Band auf. Die beiden Brüder gründeten m.a. das Sublime Frequencies Label, das bis heute heute hervorragend komplitierte Musik, vor allem aus dem arabischen und asiatischen Raum, veröffentlicht.
Alan Bishop spielt in diversen Formationen (u.a. The Dwarfs of East Agouza)
2005 begann Sir Richard Bishop als Solokünster aufzunehmen und aufzutreten. Ausgedehnte Touren durch Nordamerika; Europa und Australien folgten u.a. mit Will Oldham, Devendra Banhardt und Bill Callahan.
Seine erste Solo LP erschien auf John Fahey’s Revenant Label. Bis heute sind eine Vielzahl an Tonträgern auf renommierten Underground/Independent LP wie u.a. Unrock, Drag City, Three Lobeb und Locust erschienen.
Sir Richard Bishop tritt mit Unterstützung des Krefelder Labels Unrock im Rahmen seiner Nordamerika/Europa-Tournee im 674FM Konzertraum auf.

Richard Bishop is an American musician, singer and composer, best known for his work with the Sun City Girls. The Sun City Girls were an experimental/avant-garde band that Bishop founded with his brother Alan in 1981 in Phoenix (Arizona). Until 1993, they released a myriad of records that had their roots in the US independent underground, but continuously expanded them with a wide variety of influences from improv/jazz and so-called world music and formed them into their very own, extraordinary sound.
After the death of drummer Charles Gocher, the band broke up. The two brothers founded with others the Sublime Frequencies label, which to this day releases excellently composed music, mainly from the Arabic and Asian regions.
