Mit ihrem neuen Album, haben Mariana Sadovska, Christian Thomé, Markus Braun und Matthias Kurth unter dem Namen VESNA ein düsteres, akustisches Ost-West-Roadmovie geschaffen. Es ist eine Begegnung der Kulturen in Poesie und Melodie, die von der Konfrontation zwischen Liebe und Tod, Verzweiflung und Hoffnung, auf der Suche nach Freiheit und Identität erzählt und vor allem ist es eine Reaktion auf die russische Invasion in der Ukraine, die am 22. Februar 2022 begann.

Die Musiker haben sich auf eine persönliche Entdeckungsreise begeben. Sie tragen zwei der ältesten Instrumente der Menschheit mit sich: Stimme und Trommeln. Zusammen mit dem Gitarristen Matthias Kurth haben sie ihr Vokabular um fast vergessene urban-schamanische Tiefen erweitert: darunter Maultrommeln, indisches Harmonium, Zither und Elektronik.

Mariana Sadovska lässt die Lieder der Ukraine, die in ihrem Gedächtnis verankert sind, in ständiger Überraschung auftauchen, brennend vor Verlangen, gesungen und gespielt zu werden. In ihrer Begegnung mit den westlichen urbanen Welten von Christian Thomé und Matthias Kurth verbinden sich lyrische und musikalische Leitmotive, unerwartete harmonische und rhythmische Dialoge, Wege über unsicheres Terrain zu einem akustischen Ringen um Musik, die sich wahr anfühlt.

So düster die Reise auch sein mag, jedes Konzert von VESNA endet mit Hoffnung und mit der Gewissheit, dass nach jedem Winter der Frühling kommt!

With their new album, in reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 22nd, 2022, Mariana Sadovska, Christian Thomé, Markus Braun and Matthias Kurth in the guise of VESNA have created a dark, acoustic Eastern-Western music cinema; a meeting of cultures in poetry and melody telling of the confrontation of love and death, of despair and hope, in search of freedom and identity.

The musicians have embarked on a personal journey of discovery. They carry with them two of the oldest instruments of humankind: voice and drums. Together with guitarist Matthias Kurth, they have expanded their vocabularies to include almost-forgotten urban-shamanic depths: including jaw harps, Indian harmonium, zither, and electronics.

Mariana Sadovska invites the songs of Ukraine, embedded in her memory, to surface in constant surprise, burning with the desire to be sung and played. In her encounter with the Western urban worlds of Christian Thomé and Matthias Kurth lyrical and musical leitmotifs, unexpected harmonic and rhythmic dialogues, paths over uncertain terrain combine in an acoustic struggle for music that feels true.

However dark the journey, each concert by VESNA ends in hope; with the certainty that after every winter, spring is coming!
