<timefor> South African Exploratory Music and Sound Art opens up fertile ground for experimentation, tracing the extraordinary richness and diversity of South Africa’s exploratory music and sound art scenes. The programme aims to offer a broad yet curated overview — connecting historical anchor points with contemporary niches, insider perspectives, and voices from multiple generations.

Hosted by Georg Dietzler joined by artists and guests deeply embedded in the field, <timefor> delivers in-depth insights through portraits, reports, discursive talks, and plenty of music from studio guests — including occasional live, intimate studio performances. The show highlights new projects, emerging artists, fresh collaborations, radiophonic sound art, performance-based works, and interdisciplinary approaches rooted in South Africa’s vibrant creative ecosystems.

Initiated by Cologne-based artist, sound art, experimental intermedia music organizer and networker Georg Dietzler together with Cape Town–based journalist, author, and DJ Atiyyah Khan/futurenostalgia_. <timefor> is the first outcome of Dietzler’s extensive research and networking travels across South Africa, meeting artists, concert organisers, journalists, and cultural institutions.
