You may have asked yourself: What is time? Time seems always with us and at the same time hard to determine. Someone said: Time is a rapid river running through our bodys. Drummer producer Makaya McCraven called his new album „In These Times“ and he’s not pointing at the hard times, we’re living through in periods of crisis, instability and violations. The tracks he offers invoke a kind of come together of different times and places in sound – created with a group of 15 artists, looped, remixed, alienated, put together in a new way. Sometimes you don’t understand the way he’s juggling with pre-recorded and live music, call it wizardry. „In These Times“ is a warm, organic and at times quiet and intimate record. A brilliant one.
